- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is a must
- Ability to pass a background and a drug test
- 5+ years of automotive and diesel repair, truck experience or combination of education & experience, with verifiable certifications.
- CDL a plus, but not required
- Experience in Hydrovac Truck mechanics preferred
- Must have appropriate mechanic’s tool set
- Must be capable of working independently and work as a team in a team environment
- Motivated to work in a safe environment and keep workspace clean and tidy
- Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays as needed

Responsibilities
- Inspecting vehicles for mechanical issues, safety concerns, or wear and tear.
- Diagnosing problems with engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems.
- Using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle performance and identify issues.
- Performing regular maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Replacing worn or damaged parts to keep vehicles in safe working order.
- Monitoring maintenance schedules and ensuring vehicles are serviced on time to avoid breakdowns.
- Repairing or replacing broken or malfunctioning components, including engines, transmissions, air conditioning, exhaust systems, etc.
- Fabricating or welding parts when necessary.
- Addressing electrical and mechanical issues, including starter motors, alternators, and power systems.
- Keeping detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts replaced for each vehicle in the fleet.
- Tracking vehicle mileage, service intervals, and warranty details to ensure optimal maintenance schedules.
- Reporting on the status of the fleet and any potential issues that may arise.
- Quickly identifying and diagnosing issues that cause vehicle breakdowns.
- Conducting tests on engines, transmission, and other key components to find and resolve problems efficiently.
- Ensuring that all repairs and preventative maintenance meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Performing safety checks on vehicles to ensure they meet state or federal inspection requirements.
- Ensuring that all work is compliant with local environmental standards (e.g., emissions).
- Collaborating with fleet manager and other team members to ensure vehicles are ready for use when needed.
- Advising management on vehicle condition, needed repairs, and the overall state of the fleet.
- Interacting with drivers or other staff to understand issues they have experienced with vehicles.
- Providing customer service by addressing vehicle-related concerns and ensuring timely service.
- Taking vehicles on test drives after repairs to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Ensuring proper calibration of components like alignment, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Ensuring that your tools and company machinery and equipment are in proper working condition.
- Keeping the repair area clean, organized, and safe to work in.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour
