Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced K–12 Strategic Planning Consultant to join our consultant network. This role involves leading schools and networks—particularly charter schools—through inclusive, equity-centered strategic planning processes that set bold visions, establish measurable goals, and chart actionable paths to implementation. The consultant will facilitate engagement with diverse stakeholders, design multi-year roadmaps, and support organizations in aligning resources and capacity to their strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end strategic planning processes for K–12 schools and charter networks, from discovery and data analysis through final plan development and adoption.
- Facilitate inclusive stakeholder engagement with boards, leadership teams, staff, families, and community members to ensure diverse perspectives shape the plan.
- Apply frameworks such as Liberatory Design and Stronger’s equity-centered, results-driven approach to ensure planning is action-oriented and equity-driven.
- Develop 3–5 year strategic plans with clear goals, measurable outcomes, and implementation roadmaps, including KPIs, accountability structures, and progress monitoring systems.
- Guide schools in aligning resources, staffing, and structures to strategic priorities.
- Provide coaching and support to school and system leaders to drive effective plan execution.
- Build client capacity for implementation and sustainability, including project management tools and progress-to-goal monitoring systems.
- Deliver high-quality reports, presentations, and facilitation sessions to boards and leadership teams.
- Serve as a thought partner to client leaders on organizational sustainability, growth, and student outcome improvement.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in K–12 education leadership, school system strategy, or consulting, with demonstrated success in strategic planning.
- Proven ability to lead multi-year planning processes with schools, districts, or charter management organizations.
- Strong facilitation skills with diverse groups, including boards, executive leaders, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of charter school contexts, accountability structures, and performance frameworks.
- Skilled in developing measurable goals, KPIs, and monitoring systems to track progress.
- Exceptional communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
- Experience with Liberatory Design, Results-Based Accountability, or similar frameworks preferred.

- A track record of leading charter schools or networks through strategic planning that resulted in measurable organizational growth.
- Familiarity with nonprofit or district-level planning (a plus, but not required).
- The ability to balance vision-setting with practical implementation support.
- A systems-level perspective that connects strategic planning to talent, finance, governance, and student outcomes.
Benefits
Compensation
$45 - $85 / hr depending on experience
This is a contract-based, project-dependent role. Consultants will be engaged as independent contractors and will only be offered assignments and compensated when client work is available. Stronger Consulting is building a pool of consultants to draw from as we expand our client partnerships.
