Position Summary:

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Field Crop seeds Team is seeking a Technical Agronomist Field Crops inclusive of corn, sunflower and wheat for the Potchefstroom, South Africa location. This role will provide expert agronomic guidance and technical support to the Commercial team, drive the success of our wheat, sunflower, and corn seed portfolio. The successful candidate will champion product performance, develop technical solutions, and deliver value-adding agronomic services that creates sales demand to both internal teams and external customers.
Accountabilities:
- Accounting for all pre-commercial new material testing for corn, sunflower and wheat (collaboratively with the wheat breeding team)
- Coordinating all commercial/sales trials for corn, sunflower and wheat
- Bridging the gap between R&D, Product Placement, and Commercial teams ensuring seamless integration of new products and technologies
- Assist the R&D team to develop product registration proposals for field crops for the varieties and hybrids intended to be commercially advanced
- Providing oversight, data information needed during HPC & VPC hybrid/variety advancement meetings
- Partnering with marketing to develop technical marketing materials, creating technical bulletins and agronomic recommendations data
- Supporting the achievement of sales targets for the defined sales area by influencing grower purchasing decisions
- Collaborating with other functions to identify and leverage critical touchpoints between Agronomy and Commercial teams
- Fostering improved product and technology appreciation based on other Syngenta functions’ value to farmers
- Promoting sustainable farming practices that align with the company's environmental stewardship goal
