The Role
As the Tanzania Operations Manager, you will be pivotal in ensuring operational excellence across Kuunda’s embedded finance ecosystem. You will oversee functions including collections, compliance, liquidity oversight, and back-office support — ensuring seamless execution and resilience.
Working closely with Group Shared Services, you will refine workflows that scale efficiently, manage risk, and support Kuunda’s growth in Tanzania. This role requires strong analytical thinking, a strategic mindset, and the ability to optimize complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership and Process Optimization
Lead country operations processes
Identify and resolve bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks in daily operations
Drive automation initiatives to streamline tasks and unlock capacity for higher-value activities
Establish and enforce SOPs aligned with group standards while tailoring to local market dynamics
Serve as a bridge between operations and product teams, ensuring long-term sustainability
Funding Compliance and Liquidity Management
Monitor liquidity to ensure uninterrupted product availability
Lead planning and forecasting activities
Act as primary liaison with financial institutions on funding and compliance
Provide operational input into partner negotiations to support Kuunda’s scaling needs
Defaults Management and Collections Strategy
Oversee collections performance across partners, ensuring recovery targets are met
Lead regular performance reviews, converting insights into actionable strategies
Implement data-driven risk mitigation measures to strengthen portfolio health
Design incentives and accountability frameworks to drive strong team performance
Align field collections with digital tools to create cohesive multi-channel strategies
Performance Monitoring, Reporting, and Support
Deliver consolidated performance reports with actionable insights for leadership
Use analytics platforms to monitor trends, operational SLAs, and funding requirements
Oversee efficient back-office operations, ensuring rapid, accurate partner support
Monitor support systems and coordinate interventions to minimize downtime or issues
Build internal and partner capability through training programs on compliance and operational best practices
Partnership and Stakeholder Management
Cultivate strong relationships with financial institutions and ecosystem partners
Provide transparent, data-driven insights to strengthen collaboration
Support the Country Director with operational intelligence for partner engagements
What We’re Looking For
5+ years in operational leadership, ideally in fintech, financial services,
telco or similar high-growth environments
Proven ability to design and scale efficient workflows across operations
Hands-on experience in liquidity planning, forecasting, and managing institutional relationships
Strong background in collections strategy, analytics, and risk management
Proficiency with data analysis and workflow management tools
Demonstrated success in partner engagement and compliance management
Experience leading automation initiatives and optimizing support functions
Skilled in training and capability building

Location
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. A minimum of three days a week in the office is required, with travel across Africa as needed.
