RESPONSIBILITES
-
Performs installation, operations and maintenance, and disposal of Linux-based IT software (operating systems, endpoint configuration management, management servers, application servers, ISR applications, etc.) using systems analysis techniques and procedures to ensure fit and function of software to AF DCGS functional specifications

Performs analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution and system administration for AF DCGS Test and Operational Enterprises; problems resolved are difficult and somewhat complex

Applies security patches and operating system upgrades to ensure the security and integrity of the technical environment

Assists in new infrastructure projects Ensures accuracy of documentation for assigned enterprise changes

Works under the supervision of more senior personnel

Performs daily system checks on Linux assets in the Test and Operational Enterprises to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability

Performs system checks and preventative updates.

Configures Yellowdog Update Manager to install and test Linux patches.

Performs installation of SW as defined by RFCs (Request for Change) and TCTOs (Time Compliance Technical Order).

Reviews and redline configuration files and documentation as required.

Maintains Puppet and Satellite servers to facilitate automated deployment of Linux Virtual Machines (VMs).

Works with OEM engineers to resolve elevated system issues, identify risks and execute remediation procedures and document these fixes by updating procedures and authoring Knowledge articles

Responsible for assisting more senior positions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Willingness to travel if required

8570 Compliant certificate (Security +) is a must
-
Linux + Certification (Preferred Certification in addition to DoD 8570 certification listed above)

Ability to support a 24/7 operational mission with shift work including nights and weekends if required
Clearance: TS/SCI
Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field and 0-3 years of experience
Substitutions: 6 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree, or an Associate’s degree plus 4 years of relevant experience
