Field Architect
Full-timeJob Overview
The company is seeking a meticulous and experienced Field Architect to join the Jabali Towers site team. This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on translating design excellence into construction reality. The Field Architect will be the on-site custodian of the architectural design intent, responsible for the day-to-day inspection and quality control of all architectural works, from the building envelope to the finest interior details.
On-Site Design Integrity & Quality Assurance:
- Serve as the primary on-site custodian of the architectural design intent, ensuring all works are executed in precise accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and quality benchmarks.
- Conduct rigorous daily inspections of all architectural works, including facade and curtain wall installation, waterproofing, blockwork, plastering, and all interior finishes (tiling, flooring, joinery, painting).
- Implement and enforce the project's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program for all architectural components, managing the approval process for material samples and full-scale mock-ups.
- Review and provide technical approval for contractor submittals, including shop drawings, method statements, and material data sheets for all architectural elements.
- Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies between the design documents and site conditions, ensuring any necessary changes are properly documented and approved without compromising design quality.
Technical Coordination & Problem-Solving:
- Interpret complex architectural drawings and details to provide clear guidance to the contractor's site team.
- Liaise directly with the lead architectural consultant to manage and resolve technical queries (RFIs) in a timely manner.
- Coordinate closely with the MEP and Structural field engineers to ensure the correct installation of service penetrations, in-wall/in-slab services, and partition set-outs relative to the structure.
- Assist in maintaining accurate site records, including daily progress reports, inspection logs, and photographic evidence of the works.
Safety & Compliance:
- Champion a culture of safety for all architectural works, with a particular focus on facade installation, scaffolding, and work in common areas and finished spaces.
- Ensure all architectural installations are in full compliance with Kenyan building codes, local authority regulations, and international best practices.
- Monitor contractor operations to ensure strict adherence to approved health and safety plans and procedures.
