Responsibilities

  • Train and support field personnel, foremen, and superintendents in safety practices for structural steel and miscellaneous steel erection projects.
  • Travel regularly to active jobsites, fabrication facilities, and regional offices and conduct regular jobsite inspections and audits.
  • Assist / review and comment on the site specific safety plans and company-wide programs.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs and ensure alignment with Berlin Steel and customer requirements, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to Subcontractors for immediate correction actions.
  • Conduct incident investigations, create corrective action plans, and maintain records.
  • Guide project managers and supervisors on integrating safety into operational planning.
  • Manage accident reports, insurance claims, and support claims review processes.
  • Communicate safety updates verbally and visually to enhance field awareness.
  • Maintain and submit weekly activity reports to Corporate Safety leadership.
  • This is a general summary of the job responsibilities for this position, other duties may be assigned from time to time to meet the needs of the organization.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction safety, preferably structural/miscellaneous steel.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, construction codes, and field safety practices.
  • Proven ability to identify hazards and recommend corrective measures.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with strong leadership presence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; travel to jobsites in multiple states is required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 500 & 510
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
