Position Summary

The Summer Camp Coordinator   plays a critical role in launching and supporting The Tech Interactive’s summer camp program. Reporting to the Camp Manager, this position is responsible for the behind-the-scenes coordination that allows camp programming to run smoothly, safely, and professionally. The Camp Administrator supports camper registration, family communication, staff onboarding, scheduling, logistics, and day-to-day operational needs before and during the camp season.

This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys coordination, communication, and problem-solving in a fast-paced, mission-driven educational environment.

This is a 40 hours per week seasonal position for the Summer camp season. This is a non-exempt (hourly) role reporting to the Summer Camp Program Manager.

Summer Camp at the Tech this year runs from June 15 to August 7, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Season Camp Preparation (May–June 15)

  • Support camper registration processes, including tracking enrollment, waitlists, session changes, and required forms.
  • Serve as a point of contact for camp families, responding to questions via email and phone and escalating concerns as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding seasonal camp staff, including coordinating paperwork, background check requirements, training schedules, and orientation logistics.
  • Help organize staff schedules, coverage plans, and role assignments in collaboration with the Camp Manager.
  • Coordinate camp logistics such as room assignments, supply ordering support, daily schedules, and materials preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records related to campers, staff, attendance, and program operations.

In-Season Camp Support

  • Provide daily administrative and operational support to the Camp Manager and camp staff.
  • Support check-in/check-out processes, attendance tracking, and camper documentation.
  • Assist with day-to-day coordination needs, including schedule adjustments, substitute coverage, and communication with families.
  • Help ensure compliance with youth safety policies, staffing ratios, and operational procedures.
  • Support onboarding and supervision logistics for Junior Counselors, ensuring appropriate documentation and supervision structures are in place.
  • Assist with troubleshooting operational challenges calmly and professionally in a dynamic camp environment.

Communication & Coordination

  • Draft and distribute camp communications to families and staff, including reminders, updates, and logistical information.
  • Collaborate with Education, Guest Services, and other internal teams to support smooth camp operations within The Tech Interactive.
  • Provide input and feedback to the Camp Manager on systems, workflows, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Additional Duties

  • Participate in required training, planning meetings, and post-season wrap-up tasks.
  • Complete additional camp-related administrative or operational tasks as assigned.

Requirements and Skills

  • Experience in administrative, coordination, or operations roles; experience in camps, education programs, museums, or youth programs is highly preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for the unique culture of summer camp, including participating in theme days, playful traditions, costumes, and other joyful, high-energy elements that help create a fun, welcoming camp experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and details simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interacting with families and seasonal staff.
  • Comfort using digital tools for scheduling, data tracking, email communication, and document management.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small, fast-moving team.
  • Professional, calm, and solutions-oriented approach in a high-energy environment.
  • Interest in youth programs, education, or informal learning environments.

Working Conditions and Schedule

  • This is an onsite, seasonal position beginning in May and continuing through the end of the summer camp program.
  • Schedule increases during peak camp operations; hours may vary based on program needs.
  • Requires periods of standing, walking, and movement throughout The Tech Interactive campus.
  • Some early mornings may be required during camp sessions to support daily operations.
