The Dispatch is hiring a news-obsessed reporter for The Morning Dispatch. On Monday you might be reporting on a snap election in Bulgaria, and on Wednesday, you’ll be writing about a Supreme Court case. This role is for someone who loves the reporting process, can work quickly without sacrificing quality, and takes pride in producing clear copy on tight deadlines. We want reporters who are driven, world-curious, and eager to cover topics they’ve never covered before. There is no fixed beat—you’ll cover whatever matters most on any given day, though we hope reporters develop specialties and areas of expertise.
About The Morning Dispatch: TMD is The Dispatch’s flagship weekday newsletter, read by more than half a million people every morning. It is a reported news product: We explain what happened, why it matters, and what readers should know about U.S. and international stories, without telling them what to think. TMD’s goal is to be the best morning newsletter on the market, offering both a well-rounded snapshot of what’s happening in the U.S. and around the globe in politics, policy, law, business, technology, and culture, in addition to deeply reported news items going in-depth on the day’s biggest story. Our goal for every reported TMD news item is to be the cleanest, best-sourced 1,500 words a reader can find on a given topic.
About The Dispatch: The Dispatch stands out as a platform for thoughtful coverage, respectful dialogue, and a wildly engaged community of paying members. We bring a perspective—we’re right-of-center—but we’re fiercely independent, standing apart from media outlets increasingly engaged in partisan boosterism. Started in 2019 by Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg,
The Dispatch has filled a valuable gap in the media ecosystem as covered in the
New York Times,
Vanity Fair,
The Atlantic, and other publications.
