This is an opportunity to influence strategic decision-making related to Pacific peoples at the University of Auckland. As Senior Researcher and Policy Advisor, you’ll provide high-quality research, analysis and advice to the PVC Pacific and other members of the University Executive Committee, informing the development, delivery and monitoring of strategy, policy and planning.
You’ll make a significant contribution to work relating to Ala o le Moana, Pacific Strategy and also the pillars of Taumata Teitei: Education and Student Experience, Research and Innovation, Partnerships and Engagement, Enabling Environment, and People and Culture.
In this role, you will:
- Analyse complex information and produce evidence-based reports, publications and presentations for senior leaders.
- Scan and monitor the external environment to identify emerging issues and inform strategic thinking.
- Lead projects and coordinate consultations on matters of policy and strategic importance.
- Build strong relationships across the University to ensure alignment with operational plans and equity commitments.
This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) with a salary range of $101,000-$118,000 per annum, depending on experience.

He kōrero mōu | About You
You’re a seasoned researcher and policy advisor with a strong background in similar roles and a proven track record of delivering high-quality analysis and advice. You should bring expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods, critical thinking and statistical analysis.
You have exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex data into clear, compelling insights for diverse audiences. You’re highly organised, collaborative and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pacific contexts will be highly valued.
