Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Vascular and Interventional Radiologic Technologist (RT) to join our Outpatient-Based Lab (OBL) team. This dynamic role is essential to the success of our vascular procedures. The RT is responsible for specialized intra-operative imaging and will actively alternate between two core functions in the procedure room:
- Circulating: Managing the procedural flow, logistics, radiation safety and documentation
- Scrubbing: Directly assisting the physician at the sterile field during complex interventional vascular procedures (e.g., angiograms, venograms, and fistulagrams)
The Ideal candidate must be proficient in operating fluoroscopic C-Arm equipment and possesses a high level of critical thinking, clinical judgement, and teamwork. This roll will be full-time (5 days per week) and requires flexibility to cover multiple Central Massachusetts locations as needed, included Worcester, Leominster, Lowell, and Wellesley. Schedules are determined and provided on a monthly basis and are subject to change based on operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Interventional/Procedural Support (Circulating & Scrubbing)
- Scrubbing In: Assist the physician directly at the sterile field, handing instruments and equipment, manipulating guide wires, catheters, and devices under the direction of the physician during diagnostic and interventional vascular procedures.
- Circulating: Manage all non-sterile aspects of the procedure room, focusing on logistical support, radiation safety, and documentation. This includes:
- Assisting with patient positioning and transfer.
- Ensuring immediate availability of all necessary equipment, supplies, and sterile packs.
- Confirming procedural consents and time-outs are performed.
- Supporting the physician's needs outside the sterile field.
- Collaborating closely with the Registered Nurse (RN), who handles patient monitoring and medication administration.
- Image Acquisition: Operate and maintain fluoroscopic C-Arm equipment (angiographic system) to obtain high-quality vascular images, ensuring correct anatomical positioning, technical factors, and image archiving.
- Sterility and Safety: Prepare the procedural suite, ensuring all equipment and supplies are readily available, sterile, and in good working order, adhering strictly to infectious disease and radiation safety protocols.
- Documentation: Accurately document all procedure details, imaging parameters, patient care activities, and supplies used in the electronic health record (EHR) and database systems.
- Technical & Operational Duties
- Conduct daily quality control (QC) checks on all radiographic and ancillary equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform patient clinical assessments before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist in managing inventory and organizing the procedure room and supply storage.
- Prioritize workload efficiently based on the daily procedure schedule and acuity.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, ARRT Standards of Ethics, and HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of associate degree in Science in Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) Certification required.
- Current State Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an Interventional Radiology (IR), Cath Lab, or Vascular OBL setting highly preferred.
- Experience with fluoroscopy and C-Arm operation is required.
- Proven ability to perform both Scrub and Circulate roles in a procedural setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients, physicians, and team members.
- Willingness to travel locally across the Central Massachusetts regional assignment locations.
Compensation
$40/hour - $60/hour. Negotiable based on skills and experience.
