Job Overview
- Receive documents from Customer Care personnel for clearance purpose. This should include Bill of Lading, Suppliers Invoices, Evidence of Payment, C45 and Concession Letters where applicable
- Prepare and compile documents required by FRCS for the discharge/clearance of foreign cargo at domestic port.
- Prepare entry papers from suppliers invoice in accordance with Fiji Customs Service regulations and of other government agencies bearing on importation of goods, such as Biosecurity, Ministry of Health.
- Calculate value for Duty in accordance with appropriate tariffs. You must be well-versed in determining proper classifications and dutiable value and be fully aware of the vast number of commodities subjects. Requests for disbursement approvals from the Credit team. Based on client trading terms it will either be “COD” on which payment is to be collected on delivery of cargo, “on account” on which the credit team takes responsibility of collecting payment or “payment upfront” for first time clearances.
- Lodgment of documents to Customs for approvals.
- Arrangement of payment once D&V is confirmed and approved by Customs
- Provide storage of imported goods if required upon request by client or under bond to premises should clearance take more than intended time
- Confirm mode of delivery and advice delivery clerk to make arrangement with Transport Department
- Should the need arise; prepare documents for clients desiring to appeal duty charges imposed by FRCS.
- Weekly summation of jobs done – cleared/uncleared/transshipments.
- If the operations staff are busy, the agent is to attend to examination at the premises of the client and execute delivery.
- assisting with exports and transshipment entry registration when required.
