What are the duties and responsibilities?
Supervision and Safety:
- Supervise students during arrival and departure times.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for all program participants.
Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, and homework assistance.
- Implement a well-rounded curriculum to promote students' physical, social, and intellectual development.
Homework Assistance:
- Provide support and assistance to students with homework assignments.
- Foster a positive attitude toward learning during homework time.
Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents, school staff, and program participants.
- Provide updates on students' activities and progress.
Behavior Management:
- Implement behavior management strategies in accordance with program policies.
- Encourage positive behavior and social interactions among students.
Equipment and Supplies:
- Ensure that program equipment and supplies are organized and well-maintained.
- Report any issues or needs to program supervisors.
What are the required qualifications?
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education or related field is a plus.
- Experience working with children. Previous experience with children. Have you volunteered with children before? Are you a former or retired teacher? All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
- Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Completed background check.
