Our client, an emerging leader in the agricultural sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and preparing financial reports. He or she will be reporting to the head of finance. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to take their career to the next level.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, and variances related to expenditures.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage and reconcile accounting transactions, preparing accurate and timely financial statements and reports tailored to stakeholders..
- Ensure compliance with regulations and financial standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those set by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
- Conduct regular audits of financial transactions and documents, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Analyze financial data, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Provide financial analysis and insights specific to agricultural practices.
- Support management in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Requirements
- ACCA, CIMA, Degree in Accounting or equivalent is required.
- Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
- Minimum of 4-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the agriculture industry.
- Strong understanding of agricultural accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (particularly, Sage 300) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of financial regulations affecting the agriculture sector.
- Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Fluency in English for written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
- Must have a valid drivers license
