Senior Data Analyst
Full-timeJob Overview
WHO WE ARE
At Trustly, we're building a smarter, faster, and more secure financial future by revolutionizing the world of payments. As a global leader in Open Banking Payments, we are establishing Pay by Bank as the new standard at checkout, providing unparalleled freedom, speed, and ease to millions of consumers and merchants worldwide.
Our Ambition: To build the world’s most disruptive payment network and redefine what the payment experience should feel like.
Trustly is a global team of innovators, collaborators, and doers. If you are driven by a strong sense of purpose and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and high-growth environment, join us and be part of a team that’s transforming the way the world pays.
About the role
As Trustly’s Senior Data Analyst for our next-generation consumer product (GoConsumer), you will build the analytical foundation for a 0→1, AI-powered financial app that helps everyday earners improve their financial health.
You’ll set up our metric framework, instrumentation, dashboards, and experimentation engine from scratch. You’ll analyse millions of historical bank transactions, evaluate AI-coach conversations, shape how we measure behaviour change, and partner tightly with Product, Engineering, and Design to guide high-quality decisions.
This role blends data analytics, data science, experimentation, and product thinking. You must be comfortable in a high-ambiguity, high-velocity environment where insights directly shape the MVP, core engagement loops, and long-term strategy.
Based in Lisbon (or willing to relocate).
You’ll collaborate closely with:
- The AI-focused Product Manager and Product Designer
- Staff Engineer and ML/AI engineering teams
- UX researchers
- Risk, Operations, and Trustly’s broader data teams
This is a deeply cross-functional role embedded in product development, experimentation, and AI-driven consumer experiences. You will functionally report into Trusty’s head of product analytics but work day to day for the product leader mission inside the small mission driven 0-1 team.

- Foundational Metrics & Instrumentation
- Implement the early metric tree and evolve it over time
- Define tracking specs for all product surfaces: onboarding, AI coach, gamification loops, missions, challenges, notifications.

- Establish AB testing framework for the new app, including experiment design, assignment, guardrails, power analysis, and interpretation.
- Identify leading indicators of habit-building, engagement, and improved financial outcomes.
- Run rapid analyses to support product decisions during MVP build and post-launch iterations.
- Analyse conversational data to understand model-behaviour patterns, user intent, failure cases, and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with PM/Design/ML to design quantitative and qualitative eval suites.
- Measure tone, safety, clarity, task completion, and user satisfaction.
- Explore Trustly’s extensive transaction history to uncover patterns in cashflow, income volatility, overdrafts, risky merchants, payday dynamics, and habit loops.
- Identify opportunities for interventions that reduce financial stress and support behaviour change.
- Work across massive datasets using Python, SQL, and notebook-driven workflows.
- Build prototypes for predictive signals (e.g., low-balance prediction, payday timing, early churn risk, mission success likelihood).
- Use modern LLM and GenAI tooling to extend analysis speed, quality, and repeatability.
- Deliver insights that influence product roadmap, coaching logic, and gamification design.
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to translate insights into features.
- Provide data-driven storytelling to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Uphold high analytical standards and promote an outcome-driven culture.
