We are looking for a highly motivated Lab Technician to join our team!
As a Lab Technician, you will play a critical role in the development and commercialization of products that will have a major impact on the life science field.
This opportunity is an onsite full-time Saturday-Wednesday contracting position based in our Fremont, CA office.
How You’ll Contribute
- Synthesize novel particle formulations in aqueous media
- Conduct process optimizations to ensure final formulations conform to internal specifications with respect to downstream performance, stability, and reproducibility
- Independently execute various assays and experiments to characterize the physicochemical properties of new particle formulations
- Spend most working hours in the lab (90% lab work, 10% computer work)
- Work in a multidisciplinary environment comprising biochemists, molecular biologists, and engineers to drive toward company goals
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- BS or AA degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field, with relevant hands-on laboratory experience
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience. Exceptional new undergraduates with relevant academic research experience will be considered. Relevant work experience required if applying with an AA’s degree
- Proven hands-on experience working in a wet lab environment in an academic research or industry setting
- Proficient and comfortable with the safe use of common chemistry lab equipment and glassware
- Ability to exhibit competency with basic organic chemistry concepts and reactions
- Understands the differentiation and utilization of data driven deep dives and high-level summaries as well as goal setting
- Fast learner with a strong sense of urgency, a can-do attitude, and motivation to get the best out of team and co-workers. Loves and thrives in a fast-paced and demanding startup environment
- Highly organized and has outstanding time/operation management abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to adhere to company guidelines & policies
- Experience with chemical or biochemical characterization methods, including any of the following but not limited to: UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, DLS, flow cytometry, SDS-PAGE, PCR, is a plus
- Previous experience with bioconjugation chemistry and/or surface chemistry and knowledge of protein chemistry is a plus
- Background in developing or working with micro- or nanoparticle formulations, know-how in polymer chemistry, proficient in molecular biology is a plus
