The position
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead our global Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a high-performing, globally dispersed team of five, ensuring the flawless and safe execution of fast-paced STS transfers for major international oil companies. This role is critical to maintaining our dominant market position, requiring a strong background in marine logistics, exceptional problem-solving skills, and proven commercial and relationship management abilities.

Key responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership & Oversight
- Lead, mentor, and manage a globally distributed team of five Operations personnel, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and excellence.
- Oversee the end-to-end planning, execution, and closure of all STS transfer operations, ensuring strict adherence to international maritime regulations, industry best practices (e.g., OCIMF/SIGTTO), and client-specific protocols, particularly those relating to oil majors.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for complex operational issues, rapidly applying problem-solving skills to mitigate risk and ensure operations remain on schedule.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational efficiency and safety.
2. Asset & Readiness Management
- Direct the teams responsible for maintaining and ensuring the perpetual readiness of all company STS equipment, including specialized transfer hoses, fenders, and support craft.
- Implement rigorous maintenance schedules and inspection regimes to guarantee that all assets meet the highest standards of availability and certification for immediate deployment.
- Manage operational budgets related to equipment maintenance, logistics, and crew deployment.
3. Client Relationship Management & Market Strategy
- Develop and maintain strong, proactive relationships with key client contacts, specifically within major oil and gas companies, acting as the primary operational liaison.
- Regularly engage with existing and potential clients to understand evolving needs and secure continuous business.
- Actively contribute to the commercial strategy by identifying opportunities and ensuring service delivery consistently reinforces the company’s dominant market share.
- Handle client feedback and operational non-conformances with urgency and professionalism, providing comprehensive root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Requirement
- Solid Background in Shipping/Marine Operations: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience within the maritime industry, with a substantial portion dedicated to STS, bunkering, or equivalent specialized marine logistics.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of successfully managing a team, including experience overseeing geographically dispersed and/or offshore teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of STS transfer procedures, cargo handling, ship vetting processes, sanctions and vessel compatibility.
