Position Summary

The Legal Department at University Health Network (Toronto) has an opportunity for an articling intern position for the 2026-2027 term, starting by July/August 2026 for up to 10 months. The position is best suited for applicants with an interest in the field of health law.

This program is structured into rotations across UHN's diverse legal teams, including (i) Health Law, (ii) Research and Commercialization, (iii) Labour and Employment Law, Human Rights and Workplace Investigations, and (iv) Corporate Law. The aim of the articling experience at UHN is to enable students to learn substantive and practical legal skills in a healthcare environment and to make a tangible contribution to our mission.

Duties

  • UHN believes that the articling intern should be engaged in every aspect of our legal work. As the student’s skills grow, they will take on increasingly complex and responsible tasks. Students can expect to:
    • draft memoranda, pleadings, and legal opinions;
    • advise on and draft commercial, licensing, pre-clinical and clinical research agreements;
    • advise on health law, intellectual property, and privacy issues;
    • conduct research on legislation and regulations that could impact employees;
    • investigate legislation and regulations that affect the healthcare sector;
    • update policy, compliance, and corporate governance matters; and
    • prepare for and participate in dispute resolution matters and litigation proceedings.
