Position Summary:
The Specialist, Education & Knowledge Exchange is a key member of the Princess Margaret Cancer Education program. The Knowledge Broker facilitates change through leading strategic, quality, goal-based education projects from inception to implementation with continued accountability to project success and impact on cancer care. 

Duties:

Identify Knowledge Exchange (KE) Needs / Conduct Gap Analysis / Needs Analysis

  • Gather and synthesize evidence through literature searches and needs assessments (including interviews and surveys), develop rapid reviews, evidence briefs, and other knowledge resources to support evidence-informed decision making and planning change implementation initiatives.

Develop Knowledge Exchange Strategies

  • Identify evidence-informed and multi-pronged interventions and/or support the creation of evidence-informed interventions that meet stakeholder needs and enhance the effectiveness of change initiatives in multiple formats.
  • Facilitate access to different forms of evidence and enhance stakeholder capacity to use evidence for decision-making purposes.
  • In consultation with the Senior Manager and stakeholders, develop clear work plans, articulate high level goals and evaluation and continuous quality improvement plans for projects/interventions.

Develop Evidence-Informed Interventions

  • Develop and organize KE activities and develop KE resources to make evidence more accessible and useable and in line with adult learning principles.
  • Develop and curate content/ resources/ interventions in multiple formats including video, web, eLearning and print for distribution through multiple channels to expand impact and reach.
  • Identify, build, and foster linkages, relationships and partnerships with and among different stakeholders using a variety of mechanisms, including webinars, online communities, and in-person events. Provide planning leadership and support, facilitate and evaluate these events and track new collaborations and impact.

Evaluate and Lead Continuous Quality Improvement

  • Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Evaluate impact of interventions, revise and improve on an ongoing basis for quality improvement purposes and to ensure goals are being met.
  • Develop and implement communications plans to build knowledge and awareness of different initiatives, leading practices, and lessons learned. Consider all channels in developing communications plans and select those that are most appropriate for the target audiences.

Build Capacity

  • Share knowledge about KE and KE approaches with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the broader field of KE theory and practice by attending and/ or presenting at conferences, workshops, communities of practice, etc.

Cross-Functional Duties

  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
  • Contribute content to communications vehicles, including social media working with Public Relations and other programs.
