Job Overview

The Role

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an essential role in supporting our veterinarians and RVTs while ensuring every patient receives outstanding care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing exam rooms and obtaining patient histories
  • Providing compassionate patient care and nursing support
  • Administering vaccines
  • Assisting with treatments, diagnostics and anaesthesia
  • Supporting surgical procedures
  • Performing blood draws and running laboratory samples
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Assisting with client communication and education
  • Supporting reception duties when required, including scheduling appointments, answering phones and checking clients in and out
  • Helping maintain a clean, organised and efficient hospital

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in delivering exceptional patient and client care.

You'll ideally have:

  • Minimum 1–2 years' Veterinary Assistant experience
  • Strong phlebotomy skills
  • Experience placing IV catheters
  • Experience running in-house laboratory diagnostics
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Compassionate approach to patient care
  • Positive attitude and collaborative team spirit
  • Ability to thrive in a busy hospital environment

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Four 10-hour shifts
  • Monday–Saturday availability required
  • Shift start times may vary

Compensation

  • $23–$27 per hour
  • Shift differential available for applicable shifts
