Team Summary
The Japan Finance Team supports one of the major markets in Visa Asia Pacific with over 100 staff in the country. 

 

What a Manager, Finance does at Visa
The Manager reports to the Senior Manager and will serve as a key member of the Japan Finance Team. The Manager will be a key contributor to Visa Japan’s financial planning and analysis function, with a primary focus on operating expense and headcount management. This role is responsible for analyzing financial outcomes, delivering consultative financial advice to business stakeholders, and supporting performance target achievement. The Manager will also interface with Visa’s broader Asia Pacific Finance team to jointly deliver best-in-class financial support to country sales and functional teams. Additionally, the Manager will ensure the integrity and timeliness of financial data by overseeing its processing, coordination, and analysis in alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a collaborative mindset, a hands-on approach, and a strong desire to understand the business and contribute to its growth.

This position is based in Visa Tokyo Office. 

FP&A:

  • Lead the consolidation and analysis of operating expense budgets and workforce planning in close collaboration with business units, ensuring alignment with long-term corporate objectives. Provide clear visibility into critical assumptions and required investments to support strategic goals.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and submit the annual operating plan, incorporating thoughtful quarterization, key dependencies, and a balanced view of opportunities and risks to ensure successful execution.
  • Collaborate closely with country functional leads to oversee operating expense budgets through ongoing tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis. Apply rigorous financial evaluation to proposed initiatives to maintain fiscal discipline and ensure strategic allocation of resources.
  • Design and deliver insightful financial metrics and management reports to effectively communicate performance outcomes to country leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Utilize Visa’s operational and financial systems to conduct in-depth analysis of revenue drivers, client incentives, and operating expenses. Identify emerging trends and recommend targeted follow-up actions to optimize financial performance.

Controllership:

  • Collaborate with Asia Pacific Finance teams and Global Shared Service Center to maintain accurate accounting records in compliance with US GAAP, J-GAAP, SOX, and local tax regulations.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on controllership and finance processes, guiding business teams through finance policy and compliance requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for issues identified by control stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze risk metrics and process performance to support continuous improvement initiatives.
