We are seeking an experienced and driven heavy machinery operator to join our friendly team at Living Earth.

About the role

As an Operator – Organic Waste, you will be responsible for operating a variety of machinery used for shredding, screening, transporting, loading, and unloading green waste. You will support the daily production processes by managing windrows, assisting with tunnel batching, operating onsite screens, and helping with general labour tasks across the site.

This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, hands-on, and committed to achieving quality outcomes. You must be fully dedicated to Health & Safety, follow all procedures, and contribute positively to our strong safety-first culture. Full training will be provided, and the position offers an hourly rate of $27.80.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Transporting windrows and green waste as required.
  • Shredding green waste daily, weighing, and recording data.
  • Loading kerbside material into decontamination lines and preparing batches for tunnel processing (mixing, blending, weighing, and recording).
  • Assisting with turning windrows and updating records accurately.
  • Providing general labour support such as sweeping, cleaning, repairing pallets, or helping other team members as needed.
  • Completing daily maintenance and service checks on machinery and operating equipment safely.
  • Operating onsite screens, ensuring consistent output, cleanliness, and minimal product jams.
  • Assisting with other processes as instructed by the Supervisor, in line with your training and skill level.
  • Actively participating in WM’s safety-first culture and wider HSEQ programmes.
  • Following risk management processes to ensure operational and legal requirements are met.
