About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join our offshore drilling operations in Suriname. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and optimization of complex offshore drilling and completion programs, ensuring full compliance with international standards (API, ISO, IADC) while applying advanced technologies to enhance well performance, safety, and cost-efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Well Design & Compliance:
Design and review offshore drilling and completion programs, ensuring compliance with API/ISO/IADC standards. Optimize well trajectory and casing design using integrated geological and engineering data.Drilling Optimization & Safety:
Continuously optimize drilling parameters (e.g., ROP, WOB, mud weight) while maintaining wellbore stability and safety. Review and improve well control procedures (BOPs, kill manifolds).Mud Engineering & Leak Prevention:
Analyze and adjust drilling fluid properties to ensure efficient hole cleaning and borehole integrity. Develop strategies for lost circulation prevention in challenging formations.Technical Supervision & Troubleshooting:
Provide full technical oversight during drilling and completion phases. Resolve operational challenges such as stuck pipe or equipment failure.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with mud logging, geoscience, and engineering teams to manage downhole complexity. Lead emergency preparedness planning and response.Compliance Audits & SOP Updates:
Conduct audits to ensure operations and contractor practices meet international regulations. Update SOPs and technical manuals as needed.Risk Management & Data Analytics:
Identify well control risks and implement mitigation strategies. Use advanced drilling design and simulation software (e.g., Landmark, WellPlan) and real-time data analytics to predict and prevent drilling issues.
