About the Casual Eligibility List
The Casual Eligibility List is open for eligible candidates to register an Expression of Interest (EoI) for casual employment with the Library at Western Sydney University. The eligibility list enables the Library to access suitable and experienced individuals for casual employment opportunities across our 7 campus locations, Bankstown City, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Liverpool, Parramatta City, Parramatta South and Penrith, at short notice, subject to the following:

You will be engaged as and when required, and on an ad hoc and/or intermittent basis. The University does not guarantee the provision of ongoing or regular employment, and makes no firm advance commitment to continuing or indefinite work.

The Opportunity
As a Library Experience Officer, you will play a key role in supporting efficient and accessible library operations by processing materials and maintaining a welcoming, functional campus library space. This role ensures that collections are well-organised and the environment is conducive to learning and research.
You will ensure library spaces are opened, welcoming and well maintained, including furniture placement/reset, tidying library spaces/rubbish removal, and materials pick up to provide a positive and safe library experience for all users.

You will also assist with operational tasks, providing approachable, accurate, and timely support to students using the library’s facilities. Your contribution will help ensure students feel supported, confident, and connected in their use of library services - ultimately supporting their success.

Eligibility
To be considered for the Library Experience Officer role, candidates should have completed or be working towards a relevant TAFE certificate with applicable work experience, or possess substantial relevant experience. The role requires a demonstrated ability to follow instructions with precision, including familiarity with or the capacity to learn the Dewey Decimal System. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite for basic data entry and materials scanning is essential. Candidates must be capable of working in a physically active environment involving manual handling tasks such as lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, and stretching. A willingness and ability to work rostered hours and travel between campuses as needed is also a key requirement.

Professional Staff Agreement:  casual rates of pay for this position will be $48.56 per hour
Note - this position is paid at HEW 3
