About the Casual Teaching Community
The Casual Teaching Community is open for eligible candidates to register an Expression of Interest (EoI) for casual employment with Western Sydney University, The College. The Casual Teaching Community enables The College to access suitable and experienced individuals for casual employment opportunities across a broad range of business areas at short notice, subject to the following:
- You will be engaged as and when required, and on an ad hoc and/or intermittent basis. The College does not guarantee the provision of ongoing or regular employment, and makes no firm advance commitment to continuing or indefinite work.
- Your application is not a guarantee that an offer of casual employment will be made.
- You will only be contacted regarding your application if an opportunity arises that matches your skills and experience.

The Opportunity
The College is seeking highly motivated and adaptable individuals with diverse expertise and transferable skills who can work collaboratively to deliver engaging workshops in a face-to-face classroom setting, undertake weekly moderation and marking, contribute to curriculum development, and provide academic support to students as well as the teaching team to which they are assigned.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach within the Diploma of Education Studies program, particularly in the following areas:
- Educational psychology for primary and secondary students
- Curriculum navigation for primary or secondary school literacy and numeracy
- Sustainability and sociology in education
- A comprehensive understanding of the role and practice of primary and/or secondary teaching

Eligibility
To be eligible for casual employment, applicants must meet the below criteria:
- Bachelor or Masters of Education (Primary and Secondary Teaching) qualification.
- Tertiary teaching experience desirable.
- Recent and relevant teaching experience within the discipline area, demonstrating quality and innovative teaching practices with the ability to facilitate learning in small and large groups.
- Experience teaching students from diverse linguistic, ethnic, and academic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor to various stakeholders throughout The College.
- It is a mandatory requirement for all College employees to have a current NSW employee Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
