About the Role

Educational support services (ESS) staff work within the Disability Service and attend timetabled classes to take detailed notes and to provide these notes in an accessible format to students. ESS staff may be required to take notes across a wide variety of subject areas. ESS staff may provide practical assistance for students to access resources and participate in the practical aspects of their course.  

The role commences in February 2026 with the successful applicants joining our pool of casual ESS staff who will be rostered to classes as required for the main University sessions.

ESS staff are required to nominate a minimum of two campuses and will be allocated work according to their availability. Working hours are variable and are dependent on student timetable and requirements. We cannot guarantee set hours every week as work is dependent on student requirements.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend rostered classes for the full University session/s, providing detailed and accessible notes for students across a diverse range of subjects, within the specific time period.
  • Provide practical academic support as rostered, ensuring students can seamlessly access resources and actively participate in the practical elements of their program
  • Complete mandatory Western Sydney University online training modules, which include but are not limited to disability awareness and task responsibilities before commencing employment
  • Uphold the principles of the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Disability Standards for Education (2005), fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Working with Children Check:

It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW Employee Working with Children Clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

  • Campbelltown
  • Liverpool
  • Parramatta South and Parramatta City
  • Bankstown City

Remuneration: Casual rate $43.86 per hour
