The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is seeking a Senior Space Manager to lead the development and implementation of strategic space planning across the University’s portfolio. You will oversee policies, standards and long‑term strategies that support effective use of space and enable informed decision-making for future growth.

Working within the Property and Commercial team, you will provide expert advice to senior leaders, influence complex space planning matters and ensure space utilisation aligns with institutional priorities. The role has senior oversight of the University’s space management system, ensuring high‑quality data, reporting and continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with stakeholders across the University to deliver efficient, future‑focused outcomes, managing space requests, producing test fits, monitoring space utilisation and leading audits to ensure functional suitability and compliance with space standards. This role will also contribute to sector benchmarking, including TEFMA reporting, and champion innovative technologies and systems that enhance the University’s approach to strategic space management.

  • High‑quality advice provided on space requirements and utilisation.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement of systems, procedures and planning approaches.

About You

  • Relevant qualifications in architecture or interior design, and/or equivalent experience (minimum 10 years).
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering space management initiatives and system improvements.
  • Proficiency with space management platforms and basic CAD (ArchiCAD or AutoCAD).
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
