Play a key role in delivering accurate financial outcomes and strengthening financial controls.
The Opportunity
As a Financial Accountant, you will contribute to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the University’s General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers. Working within the Office of Finance, you will ensure financial transactions across the University and its controlled entities are recorded in line with Australian Accounting Standards and internal governance requirements.
In this role, you will manage key cyclical processes, including month‑end reporting, reconciliations, and preparation of annual financial statements. You will also support the coordination of external audits by preparing high‑quality documentation and engaging with auditors to resolve queries.
Your work will directly influence financial quality, insight and compliance across the institution. By applying your technical expertise, analytical capability and strong attention to detail, you will provide reliable financial information that supports informed decision‑making and strengthens the University’s control environment.
What Success Looks Like:
- Delivering accurate month‑end results and high‑quality financial statement inputs.
- Completing timely reconciliations and resolving discrepancies across ledger accounts.
- Producing audit-ready documentation and supporting improvements to financial controls.
- Providing clear financial advice to stakeholders and interpreting complex financial information.
- Contributing to enhancements to financial systems, governance and accounting processes.

About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Finance, with full professional membership of CPA Australia, CA ANZ or equivalent.
- Strong analytical capability with proven experience resolving ledger accuracy issues.
- Extensive experience preparing financial statements aligned to Australian Accounting Standards.
- High-level digital skills with experience using financial systems such as Oracle, TM1 or GL Wand.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate financial detail clearly.
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, quality and meeting deadlines.
