The Opportunity
The Major Bids and Partnerships Lead plays a critical role in identifying, developing and securing major funded research projects and programs across in the Faculty of Health and Medicine at Western Sydney University. Embedded within the Faculties and working closely with the Research Income team, this position partners with research leaders to shape strategy, build consortia and deliver high-quality proposals.
You will lead the end-to-end management of major research bids and tender processes, from early opportunity identification through to contract award and implementation. The role requires strong engagement with industry, government and community partners to diversify research income and support the University’s strategic priorities.
Working across a complex, matrix environment, you will collaborate with academic and professional colleagues to analyse the funding landscapes, build strategic industry partnerships, develop competitive propositions, and ensure submissions align with university policy, governance and best practice.
What Success Looks Like:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of major bids, tenders and partnership agreements from concept to implementation.
- Build and maintain high-value partnerships with industry, government and research collaborators.
- Provide expert advice on major funding schemes, bid strategy and proposal development.
- Analyse market, industry and policy trends to inform strategic funding opportunities.
- Mentor and support colleagues involved in bid and partnership activities.

About You
- Postgraduate qualifications with significant experience in research income, business development or partnerships.
- Proven track record leading major research bids, tenders and or strategic partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex, high-value grant and contract proposals.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across academic, research, and government environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute in a high-volume, collaborative setting.
- Willingness to travel to Campbeltown and Penrith Campus once a week.
