The Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine is recruiting a full-time associate medical oncologist in an AFP-supported position to their division of 14 clinicians.
This group sees over 3,000 new oncology consults annually and cares for patients at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital, with a satellite clinic that delivers systemic therapy at Headwaters Health Care Centre. Our program has oncologists specializing in a few tumour types each to increase expertise and has supportive multidisciplinary tumour boards.
Accountabilities:
- Provide comprehensive outpatient medical oncology care, including new consultations and follow-up assessments
- Oversee and manage systemic therapy, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based patient care
- Participate in the inpatient medical oncology consultation service, providing timely and collaborative consultative support for hospitalized patients
- Actively contribute to disease site specific multidisciplinary tumour board rounds, including regular attendance and case presentation to support high quality, team-based decision-making
- Participate in the oncology clinical trials program as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator, supporting research and innovation
- Support the education and mentorship of medical learners within outpatient clinic settings
- Engage in division and departmental meetings, contributing to program development, quality improvement, and collaborative practice
About the program
The Oncology Program is supported by a survivorship clinic, thrombosis clinic and a nurse practitioner-led urgent care clinic, in addition to proactive monitoring of patients on systemic therapy through our Oral Anti-Cancer Chemotherapy Program and Osler Cancer Immunotherapy Program. Oncologists work in a team-based model of care supported by primary care nursing, team clerical staff, pharmacist and allied health support. The program has a strong collaboration with the Palliative Care team, with Osler being the first community Oncology Program in Canada that has the ESMO designation for an integrated Oncology and Palliative Care Program. Osler is a leader in cancer molecular testing and offers in-house rapid next generation sequencing. Osler has an inpatient oncology unit supported by hospitalists and nurse practitioners. In addition, Osler supports a comprehensive Research Program including clinical trials and real-world evidence generation.
