The Role
The Psychiatrist provides direct psychiatric care to a group of clients. Additionally, the psychiatrist works closely with a multidisciplinary team, providing psychiatric expertise for complex cases, and performs assignments and related work as required.
What you'll do
- Engage in psychiatric care.
- Provide psychiatric care to clients.
- Ensure the medical safety of all clients are kept.
- Review clients vital signs, blood work, and symptoms.
- Direct liaison with primary care physicians.
- Assist with the medical clearance process.
- Develop protocols and standardized procedures.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations.
- Provide treatment authorizations via the telephone.
- Prescribe medications when necessary.
- Act as a physician member of a multidisciplinary patient care team .
- Confer with staff and patients and their families regarding diagnosis and treatment.
- Recommend hospitalization or other indicated services.
- Make referrals to Specialists as appropriate.
- Provide needed medical input into the development of the program.
- Be available and provide in-service training to program staff.
- Manage activities related to the delivery of clinical care and services such as cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development.
- Participate in various administrative and clinical staff meetings in order to provide consultation to program staff on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to clients and employees.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors.
- Develop policies and procedures.
- Communicate with outside agencies and outside providers to educate them on the dangers of eating disorders, and effective treatment of eating disorders.
- Ensure that all psychiatric and services that are provided by the program meet accepted standards of medical practice.
- Other duties as required.
Who You Are
- Up-to-date clinical practice of psychiatry, including the recovery model, strengths based treatment, and dual diagnosis treatment, with client/family involvement.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of evaluation of effective and evidenced-based mental health treatment programs and services.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and County laws and regulations applicable to mental health programs, and the relationship of Federal and State programs to local government services and programming.
- Ability to ensure appropriate clinical supervision and direction for licensed and/or certified personnel.
- Ability to plan, organize, supervise and administer the clinical programs and services provided.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with community members and organizations.
- Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.
- Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in all states that Within Health provide care in.
- Must have completed a residency training program in psychiatry which is approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and which resulted in Board eligibility.
- Must not be excluded, suspended, debarred or otherwise ineligible to participate in the Medicare, Medicaid or other government payer programs.

Additional Details:
- Per Diem Psychiatrists are paid an hourly rate without expectation of guaranteed hours.
- This position is considered an employee of Within Health and has taxes withheld.
- This position is paid an hourly rate and is reimbursed for session time, slack updates (reading and writing),
- responding to and writing emails, taking and making patient related phone calls, attending staff meetings, team
- huddles, documentation and Within staff training.
- Cases (hours) are offered to Per Diem Psychiatrist and can be accepted or denied by the Psychiatrist by case.
- This position Is considered an employee of Within Health and has taxes withheld.
- Per Diem Psychiatrists will need to track their hours through Rippling’s Time & Attendance Application.
- Per Diem Psychiatrists will be provided a company issued device.
- Administrative time is included in the hourly rate and is not reimbursable independently of the designated time.
- Christina or other designated staff members assembling teams will contact the supervisor.
- of the employee to inquire about the IC or Hourly staff member potentially taking a new case.
- The supervisor will speak with the employee to ask if they are willing to take the new case.
- Guidelines for Time Reimbursement:
- One hour/week of staff meeting per ten clients.
- One hour and a half for evaluations and 30 minutes for follow-ups to include documentation
- Thirty minutes of documentation time for a 60 minute evaluation
- Fifteen minutes of documentation for a 15 minute check up
- Slack should not be included- indirect time should not exceed direct time
- If additional time is needed please seek prior approval from your supervisor.
- Coordination of care should not exceed greater than 50% of direct time
- Reimbursement should be in no smaller than 15 minute increments.
- These employees are responsible to track their time in Rippling.
Guidelines for Time Reimbursement:
