Job Overview

Woodston Personnel are seeking an experienced and accomplished Consultant in Pediatric Hematology Oncology to join a prestigious hospital in Saudi Arabia. The Consultant in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology will provide specialized care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of children and adolescents with blood disorders and cancers. The role involves delivering evidence-based, compassionate, and multidisciplinary care while contributing to the development of pediatric hematology-oncology services within the institution.

The postholder will also participate in teaching, research, clinical governance, and service development initiatives to ensure the highest standard of care and continuous improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of pediatric patients with:

    • Hematologic disorders (e.g., anemia, hemoglobinopathies, bleeding and clotting disorders).

    • Malignancies (e.g., leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, and bone marrow failure syndromes).

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care.

  • Supervise and perform bone marrow aspiration, biopsy, and lumbar puncture procedures as appropriate.

  • Coordinate and manage chemotherapy administration, ensuring safety, monitoring, and toxicity management.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences with pediatric surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists.

  • Provide consultative support to other hospital departments on hematology/oncology-related issues.

  • Participate in on-call and inpatient ward coverage as per departmental rota.

  • Ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up and outpatient management.

  • Provide teaching, supervision, and mentorship to pediatric residents, fellows, nurses, and medical students.

  • Participate in clinical audits, research, and quality improvement projects within the department.

  • Contribute to academic publications, research studies, and clinical trials in pediatric hematology-oncology.

  • Attend and contribute to continuing medical education (CME) programs, conferences, and workshops.

  • Support staff education in pediatric oncology protocols, transfusion medicine, and chemotherapy safety.

  • Contribute to the planning, organization, and development of pediatric hematology-oncology services.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical governance activities.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, infection control standards, and chemotherapy safety protocols.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and clinical documentation.

  • Collaborate with hospital management and other departments to enhance service delivery and patient experience.

  • Lead or participate in initiatives for improving patient safety, quality of care, and clinical outcomes.
