DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the delivery of the global No Plastic in Nature Initiative objectives,  leading on the development and execution of the global plastic policy and advocacy strategy and workplan in the LAC region;
  • Under the governance of the LAC Secretariat and in coordination with the Leaders of the Policy and Conservation Cabinets, manages the regional plastics community by convening regular meetings with office focal points, and by promoting experience sharing, collaboration, peer learning, and the development of joint initiatives.
  • Support key network offices in LAC in developing national advocacy and technical activities on the plastic pollution treaty process and NPIN policy priorities;
  • Identify and lead policy engagement opportunities with key regional stakeholders, including policymakers, businesses, civil society organisations and other partners, within the framework of the global plastic pollution treaty negotiations and  relevant regional platforms.
  • Represent WWF in relevant regional and international fora by providing technical support and strengthen the capacity of LAC states to participate in treaty negotiations and implementation through workshops, dialogues and roundtables;
  • Develop regional or national strategic partnerships with key stakeholders working on plastic pollution, including treaty negotiations and implementation;
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the advocacy plan and key actions to reduce plastic pollution and promote circular economy in the country of the host office.
  • Identify needs and delegate development of policy papers, briefs, and other policy and advocacy products relevant for driving the global and regional plastics policy agenda in LAC;
  • Actively use, and contribute to the development of, relevant internal database tools such as the Plastic Navigator;
  • Ensure timely reporting for the project ;
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Advocacy Manager, the other Regional Coordinators, the Global Plastics Policy Lead, NPIN Initiative Lead, the Policy Development Manager and WWF International Campaigns team;
  • Collaborate with LAC Secretariat and key network offices in identifying funding opportunities and support the preparation of proposals.
