Kaikaute Pūtea Financial Accountant

Our Finance Team are responsible for producing the financial scorecard for Z, accounting for all cash in and out of Z, maintaining the accuracy of our financial records of our assets and paying our taxes. 

One of our team is off on their parental leave journey so we are looking for a new member of the team to join the Z whānau on a fixed term contract, starting late January 2026 for 14 months. This period includes handover and hand back.

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager our Financial Accountants deliver timely and accurate financial information. This role will see you ensure the integrity of financial statements, prepare full year accounts and provide commentary around this, and complete tax compliance activities including preparation of the income tax returns.

You will have the opportunity to

• Manage the integrity of the general ledger including investigating balances and being able to perform corrective actions
• Deliver timely and accurate financial information communicated outside the core finance team
• Prepare full year accounts, including producing notes for the accounts for all Z Energy Group entities
• Prepare monthly performance reports including drafting commentary
• Generate an understanding of how Z operates and be able to apply this in reporting activities
• Assess accounting treatment and present recommendations
• Investigate queries and present back commentary around these
• Prepare the annual income tax return, review of other tax returns, and support the Tax Manager with tax advisory and governance activities
