Intern Associate

Job Overview

The intern will assist in improving service delivery for children with autism by supporting health care provider capacity-building trainings, research activities, community engagement, and coordination between Amref and key stakeholders, including the MoH and PORALG.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Program support

  • Assist in organizing and facilitating health worker trainings on ASD early identification, diagnosis and management including supportive care
  • Promote the institutionalization of ASD care in Primary Healthcare
  • Support implementation of MoH-approved ASD screening and referral tools at PHC level.
  • Assist in improving the quality of care and therapeutic outcomes for children with Autism
  • Participate in field supervision visits with MoH, PORALG and Amref teams, documenting gaps and recommendations.
  • Contribute to improving referral pathways from community to PHC, district, and specialized care.

B. Data management & research

  • Assist in data collection using ODK/Kobo/DHIS2 in accordance with MoH data standards.
  • Support data entry, cleaning, and analysis for monitoring project progress.
  • Assist in conducting facility readiness assessments and community KAP surveys.
  • Contribute to preparation of technical reports, presentations, and dashboards for Amref and MoH review.

C. Service Quality Improvement

  • Support health facilities in implementing quality improvement (QI) initiatives related to ASD services.
  • Help track availability of essential child health and developmental screening tools.
  • Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of trainings and service improvement interventions.
  • Contribute to documenting best practices and lessons learned.

D. Community Engagement & Education

  • Support implementation of MoH/Amref-approved communication and awareness materials.
  • Assist in organizing caregiver education sessions and community dialogues.
  • Document case studies, human-interest stories, and community feedback for project learning.

E. Coordination & Administrative Support

  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of joint Amref–MoH meetings and stakeholder workshops.
  • Support logistics for training, outreach activities, and supervision visits.
  • Maintain updated project files, tools, and documentation in line with Amref program standards.
  • Coordinate with regional and district health offices for activity planning and reporting.
