The organization became fully operational and registered in the country as an international NGO in 2002, and actively engaged in RMNCAH, WASH, communicable and non-communicable diseases, youth development programs, emergency programs with gender and health system strengthening as cross cutting throughout its projects and programs.

  1. Position Objective

Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia is looking for a skilled and professional driver to support its project implementation by providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services. The driver will be responsible for transporting staff, goods, and documents securely while ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and travel routes are optimized. Additionally, the driver will offer essential administrative and logistical support to facilitate smooth project operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, adherence to safety standards, and strong organizational skills to contribute effectively to the organization's mission.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities

Driving & Transport Services;

  • Safely operate the assigned vehicle to transport staff, goods, and official documents for work-related purposes
  • Plan and follow optimal travel routes with attention to safety, fuel efficiency, and timely arrival
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and destinations in logbooks and the ERP system
  • Safeguard the vehicle and its contents at all times, ensuring the driver’s license remains valid and available

Vehicle Care & Maintenance;

  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking oil, coolant, water, tire pressure, battery, brakes, lights, and other essential systems
  • Ensure vehicles are regularly cleaned, serviced, and maintained in good mechanical condition
  • Refuel vehicles according to organizational fuel policy and accurately record all fuel usage

Logistical & Administrative Support;

  • Collect and deliver goods, supplies, and official documents to designated project areas or offices in a timely and secure manner
  • Provide logistical and venue support for field events, workshops, and training sessions
  • Submit all vehicle-related receipts (fuel, per-diem, accommodation, etc.) accurately and on time for settlement

Safety and Compliance;

  • Ensure the safety of passengers, vehicles, and all organizational property at all times
  • Promptly report accidents, theft, or damage to the line manager and complete an accident report as required
  • Participate in safety and defensive driving training programs as instructed

Other Duties;

  • Perform ad-hoc transport and logistical tasks as assigned by the supervisor
