Job Overview

Main Purpose of Job:

To develop, manage and monitor implementation of Psychology and Mental Health programmes and related activities in the university. Lecturer will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the University’s strategy, policy and procedures, contribute to activities which influence leading edge practice and may also undertake research activities, community extension, networking and partnerships. The holder of this post will report to the Head of Department in the execution of his/her duties, and will contribute toward meeting the key performance indicators and targets of the department, and the overall mission and vision of the university.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Teaching and training in the area of Psychology and Mental health.
  • Curricula development and Review
  • Grant writing and Research and Innovation activities
  • Engage in fund-raising activities in the Department
  • Student supervision and mentoring
  • Mentoring of junior staff
  • Publications and other forms of dissemination of knowledge
  • Engage in professional development activities
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and accreditation requirements by relevant regulatory bodies
  • To support the Head of Department and other programme leaders in the department to manage the ongoing strategic development of programmes and administration in the department.
  • To assess students’ overall performance, through setting/ marking programme work, practical sessions, supervisions, fieldwork and examinations, providing appropriate feedback to students.
  • Engage in any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, from time to time.
