Job Overview

The Head of HR will act as a strategic partner to leadership, aligning HR strategies with business goals to drive effectiveness, talent management, and a high-performance culture. The role covers operations across 8 African countries, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and supporting all HR-related matters in collaboration with local teams.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership
• Act as a trusted advisor to executives and business unit leaders, contributing to strategic decision-making.
• Define and implement integrated HR strategies that align with business goals.
• Assess organizational performance, identify talent gaps, and develop HR solutions that support business objectives.
• Lead the development and execution of business strategies (Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives) to enhance organizational focus and efficiency.

Talent Management & Workforce Planning:
• Drive workforce planning and talent pipeline strategies to meet current and future business needs.
• Identify high-potential employees and develop structured career paths and succession plans.
• Partner with business leaders to develop leadership and employee capability.
• Support resourcing needs, including staffing and outplacement strategies.

Employee Engagement & Performance Culture:
• Embed a high-performance management culture to enhance productivity and service delivery.
• Establish and promote best practices in performance management, ensuring clear objectives and feedback mechanisms.
• Develop and implement strategies to drive strong employee engagement and motivation.
• Provide HR consulting, expert advice, and coaching across all areas of HR.
Training & Development:
• Oversee training and development initiatives to enhance skills and career growth.
• Guide managers in personal development planning and employee growth strategies.
• Ensure the implementation of learning programs that drive employee excellence

HR Operations & Compliance:
• Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery of HR services across the organization.
• Maintain compliance with labor laws and HR best practices.
• Identify new opportunities where HR can add value to business operations.
• Keep up to date with progressive HR practices, trends, and technologies.

Organizational Development & Change Management:
• Lead HR-driven change management initiatives to support business transformation.
• Enhance organizational structures and processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in HR practices.
• Commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

HR Automation processes
• She / he anticipated to championing the HR automation process as ongoing practice including analyzing and optimizing human resources functions like recruitment, onboarding, and performance management to enhance efficiency, employee experience, and strategic alignment with business goals.
• Responsible in managing key steps including process mapping, identifying bottlenecks, gaining employee feedback, leveraging automation, and using data analytics to implement changes and ensure continuous improvement.

Other functions
• Serve as a strategic business advisor to executive team on key organizational and management issues
• Provide HR consulting/expert advice and coaching across all areas of the HR spectrum when appropriate
• Ensure quality, timeliness and accuracy of the portfolio of HR services by compiling, producing reports and documentation
• Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR operational plan and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives


Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
• At least five years of human resource experience required.
• In-depth knowledge of employment laws from multiple country and proficiency with HR systems including HR automation.

Location: (Tanzania or Kenya) with travel across Africa as needs arises.
