 Summary

The Industrial HVAC Technician Level 1 is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration, air conditioning, split systems, air handler equipment, humidification and dehumidification systems, and associated control systems. This role ensures that optimal temperature and humidity specifications are maintained in controlled clean rooms for medical device manufacturing. The technician ensures compliance with CFC regulations and qualifications, minimizing losses and maximizing recovery.

 Summary

The Industrial HVAC Technician Level 1 is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration, air conditioning, split systems, air handler equipment, humidification and dehumidification systems, and associated control systems. This role ensures that optimal temperature and humidity specifications are maintained in controlled clean rooms for medical device manufacturing. The technician ensures compliance with CFC regulations and qualifications, minimizing losses and maximizing recovery.

    Responsibilities
     
  • Assist in the Installation and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration equipment including compressors, pumps, condensers, evaporators, valves, controls and related components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) activities such as filter changes, coil cleaning, and system inspections to reduce downtime.
  • Monitor facility and manufacturing equipment using building management systems (BMS) and equipment controls.
  • Conduct basic repairs of HVAC equipment and systems per manufacturer’s specifications with minimal supervision.
  • Support building renovation projects involving HVAC, refrigeration, humidification, or dehumidification equipment or systems.
  • Diagnose, trouble shoot and repair basic HVAC, humidification, dehumidification, pumps, boilers, chillers, and electrical supplemental heat sources using VOM meter, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Read and understand equipment schematics and technical drawings for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Complete work orders, maintain equipment logbooks, and ensure documentation complies with GMP and FDA regulations.
  • Assist with installations and repairs to ensure continual equipment and system operation.
  • Help to maintain spare parts inventory and assist in preparing part orders.
  • Performs other maintenance duties as required.
  • Interact positively with team members, production personnel and all levels of management.
  • Adhere to all GMP and company safety regulations and guidelines.

    Qualifications
     
  • 2-5 years trade school and/or HVAC maintenance troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • EPA certification is required and must be maintained.
  • NCI certifications in combustion performance, CO safety, airflow testing and steam boiler repair are preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to read and understand schematic diagrams.
  • Required certifications and training pertaining to the position must be completed within the first year and maintained as required.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and PC literacy.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use calculator and measuring tools.
  • Availability for on-call work during nights, weekends, or holidays to ensure continuous HVAC operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in varying conditions including heat, cold, wet, indoor, and outdoor environments
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, lift, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motion daily.
  • Education
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associates or Tech School degree in applicable discipline preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required
